I think of Halloween, with Jack and Rebecca as Sonny and Cher and the kids in their costumes. I think of the confetti fights with them on their birthday. I think of the fights between Jack and Rebecca from the first season, filmed in one shot through the living room and into the kitchen. I think about when I made the cupcake while pregnant with the eight and a half month old triplets in that kitchen. It is like a waterfall of memories. I also think of the scene of the house fire. So many things … It’s a constant stream of six episodes seasons”.

Chrissy Metz is Kate Pearson

It was the pilot, or the second episode of the first season, and we were at a huge Hollywood party in a mansion, and Toby and Kate were dancing, and the truth is that I felt self-conscious. And Chris Sullivan, Toby, was hanging around the dance floor and having a blast. And it was like a reflection of our relationship as friends and as co-workers, because I had no experience in television and I had never had a stable role in a series, and I was really self-conscious and thinking, I don’t know if I can do this, no I have the tools. And there was Chris hanging around the dance floor and having a blast. And I thought, of course, it is reminding me that I have to have a good time and enjoy the process”.

There are several moments, but number one is when Randall and William are separated for the last time when William leaves this world. It was incredible. I don’t want to get excited, but that was very special. Ron Cephas Jones and I had a great time. It was great working together and saying goodbye to him, at the time it was like Sterling saying goodbye to his own father who died when I was ten. So there were many things that happened to me at the same time. So that’s my number one special moment”.

Justin Hartley. ESPECIAL/THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY MÉXICO.

Justin Hartley es Kevin Pearson

I love one in particular: When Kevin decides to go and do the pilot. Decides to go to New York and become a serious actor. And he does the audition and it goes badly for him. He acts lousy at the audition and he’s there looking at himself. He’s nervous, the lyrics come out wrong, and he doesn’t know what to do. And that was very memorable for me. In a way, it was a bit cathartic.”.

Another good one was the therapy scene. The way it was filmed was like one act. So we filmed it over and over again, and it was great because we were all in one room and each of us was experiencing different things. Every character in that room had an idea of what was going on. And I think none of them thought it was going to be so deep, so intense and so explosive”.

Chris Sullivan. ESPECIAL/THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY MÉXICO.

Chris Sullivan es Toby Damon

Very early in the shoot, maybe it was the pilot, there was a moment when Chrissy and I looked at each other and we were both honest in showing our fears, because for both of us this was our first major, primetime series. Y I think one of my favorite moments was when we looked at each other and made a pact, that we were going to support each other in all this. Because there was going to be a lot of press, awards and interviews, and all that stuff. But the time that belongs to us is the one between “action” and “cut”, and in that space we can take care of each other, and we can allow that time to be ours, to interpret our roles and do what we like. I will always remember that conversation. It was a formative moment of what the next five years were going to be like.”.

Susan Kelechi Watson. ESPECIAL / THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY MÉXICO.

Susan Kelechi Watson es Beth Pearson

One of the highlights for me was when Beth and Randall were having a difficult time in their marriage. Being able to interpret that plot line, and stretch that relationship in that sense, was something that showed that not always everything is rosy in their relationship, that there is a lot to negotiate and that they continue to try to be in love with each other. I think that’s an important thing to see. Even when couples have been together for a long time, since adolescence, you have to make an effort, and there may even be doubts. But you solve it in the best way you can. And it was important, even in our minds, not to know if they were going to solve it or not, to let that reveal itself. And that was very interesting to interpret”.
